KING'S LYNN V LIONS, PREVIEW

LEICESTER bring the curtain down on their Premiership campaign with a double-header trip to title contenders King’s Lynn on Wednesday (7pm).

The Watling JCB Lions have yet to complete a league match at the Adrian Flux Arena this season, hence the need to race both matches in one night prior to the cut-off next week.

Their previous visit in early July had to be abandoned after six races due to serious incidents involving Stars duo Lewis Kerr and Kasper Andersen, with the Lions trailing 19-17 at the time.

Since then, King’s Lynn have gone on a stunning run of results including two away wins at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena, and they were also successful at Wolverhampton on Monday – a result which confirms them as strong favourites to finish top of the table ahead of the play-offs.

The home side are without Ty Proctor, who pulled out at Monmore Green with chest and sternum pains, with Swindon’s Adam Ellis booked to guest.

Lions switch their riding order with Ricky Wells moving to No.4, and await confirmation over the fitness of Josh Auty after he missed Monday’s home win against Somerset following a crash in the Championship Riders’ Individual at Sheffield.

Boss Simon Stead knows the size of the task for his side, but says his riders will be going out to give maximum effort for the travelling fans.

He said: “King’s Lynn are a very good team who are bang in-form, and there really are no easy fixtures in this division.

“I expect it to be a difficult trip, but no doubt we will have some travelling support as we have done all season, and for that I’m very grateful and so are the boys.

“Speaking on behalf of the riders and the management, we know how important it is to have people travelling and supporting us home and away, week-in week-out, and they have stuck by us all season.

“We need to take the confidence from Monday’s win into a difficult couple of away fixtures, and try to grind out a result there if we can.”

Supporters should note the meeting starts at the earlier time of 7pm with two matches to complete.

KING’S LYNN: Robert Lambert, Erik Riss, Adam Ellis, Thomas Jorgensen, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Michael Palm Toft, Simon Lambert.
LEICESTER: Hans Andersen, Josh Auty, Charles Wright, Ricky Wells, Scott Nicholls, Connor Mountain, Stuart Robson.
